Beaver Dam Campground Provincial Recreation
Area.
Beaver Dam campground is located
40km
West of
Rocky Mountain
House on highway #11
along side Shundra Creek.
Approximately
3 hours from
Calgary,
3.5 hours from
Edmonton. This
campground is more suited for tenting.
There are 8 nicely treed walk-in
tent sites along with 3 RV sites
that are located next to the
highway. Beaver Dam campground has
dry toilets, refuse containers,
firewood, community camp kitchen,
small dock and boat launch. There
is no water supply here.
The lake has been created by a man
made dam on Shundra Creek. The dam
is located at the East end of the
lake. In early spring I did see a
few small rainbow trout cruising
around the shore near the lakes East end
dam. Good fishing can also be found
downstream amongst all the local
Beaver
dams, you'll need a
fishing
license
to try out your luck. On a hot day
day the lake is good for swimming or
canoeing. I was told that
mushroom
picking is good here however I saw
very few the 1st week of June. If you need a break from
driving, this campground is a nice
place to picnic. There are a few
picnic tables located next to the
lake. Night skies here
rank # 2 on the
Bortle Scale
and the road
leading to the campground is paved. The
Chambers CreekCampground is located
approximately
11km
East of here
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
See the official web site
