Bow
Valley Campground.
Bow valley campground is located in the
Foothills to the Rocky Mountains in
Bow Valley Provincial Park Kananaskis country,
45 minutes west of Calgary and
27km
east of
Canmore. There are
169 well treed Campsites, 37 with
power and water. The campground runs
along the south Bank of the Bow
River with nice views to the west
Bow Valley and the start of the
Rocky Mountains. This
campground fills fast on weekends
due to it's close proximity to the
City of Calgary.
It also makes for an excellent late
start stop over if you're planning
to tour the National Parks. The
campground offers campsites for both
tents and larger RV's, amphitheatre,
playground,
interpretive trails, water, laundry,
flush toilets, showers, telephone,
small store, sani dump and a boat
launch. Dry firewood is
available here for a fee. There are
a few easy hikes and bicycle trails
that can be accessed from the
campground. Rainbow Trout, Brown
Trout and Whitefish can be caught in
the Bow River. You'll need a
fishing
license to try out your luck.
Willow Rock Campground,
Elk Flats
Group Campground,
Lac Des Arc
Campground,
Bow River Campground and
Three Sisters Campground are all
located near here. Compared to the
other campgrounds in this group,
this campground is the furthest from
the Trans Canada Highway and feels
more secluded then the rest. Nearby
Hikes include
Robertson
Glacier,
Mount Yamnuska
and Three Sisters.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
