Brazeau Reservoir Campground Provincial
Recreational
Area.
Brazeau Reservoir Campground is located
approximately
230km
Southwest of
Edmonton.
There are 3 campgrounds with a total
of 69 campsites. Each site has
a picnic
table and fire pit. Most of the camp
sites are surrounded by Aspen and
Spruce trees which provide good
privacy. Some of
the sites are located on or near the
reservoir but not close enough to
keep a boat next to. This campground has
a water hand pump, dry toilets, refuse containers,
fire wood, good boat
launch, fish cleaning stations and a
sandy beach area. Brazeau Reservoir
is
excellent for power boating,
canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Be
careful with a power boat, there are
a few shallow spots and floating
debris can be a real hazard here. The reservoir
is man made for hydroelectricity and is approximately
13km
long with the dam on the Northeast
end. Bird watching can be very good
as the reservoir attracts several
different bird species. The reservoir
holds Trout, Char, Grayling and
Whitefish, you'll need a
fishing
license to try out your
luck. Children will like
it here,
they can play on the beach and go
fishing on a nearby pond that is
stocked with Rainbow trout. Night skies here
rank # 2 on the
Bortle Scale.
The road
leading to the campground is paved.
The
West Canal and East
Canal
campgrounds are located within a few
km's
of here.
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
