and snowmobiling off site.
The camp sites are well treed and
located
in the surrounding Aspen and Spruce forest. Carson Pegasus
has excellent
Trout fishing, you'll need a
fishing
license to try your luck.
Fisherman without boats will find a
very long well constructed sea wall along the shore
of Mcleod Lake. You can fish from a
park bench or your own lawn chair.
If you don't fish you'll want to
after seeing this spot, bring a rod
and reel for sure. Carson Pegasus campground
is great for families with young
children, the kids can spend hours
at the beach, nearby playgrounds and
the fish wall.
I noticed the campground has a
strong relaxation feel to it, much
more then most. Boaters will find a well designed
easy to use boat launch,
12km
boat restriction, small water craft
only. You can also rent small
fishing boats and paddle boats.
Mcleod Lake is excellent for
Canoeing and Kayaking. Mcleod Lake
is part of the Athabasca River
drainage basin and
has an approximate total surface
area of
3.73km with an
average depth of
5.1m,
maximum depth of
10.7m.
Carson Pegasus Provincial Park also attracts a large
variety of migrating
waterfowl and is a great place for
birders. For those who like to
hike there is a
1.7km
trail that follows the lakeshore and
a
5.2km
backcountry trail through the local
Aspen and Spruce woodlands. Night skies here
rank # 4.5 on
the
Bortle Scale.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
