Cold Lake Campground
Cold Lake Alberta Provincial
Park.
The
Cold Lake campground is located on
the South shore of
Cold Lake approximately
240km
North East of the city of
Edmonton
and
2.5
East of the City of
Cold Lake. There are
117 sites with reservations
available by calling 1-877-537-2757. This
campground offers campsites for both
tents and larger RV's, group
camping, clean sandy beaches, picnic shelters,
flush toilets, showers, water,
fire wood for sale, picnic tables, sani dump,
swimming areas, boat launches,
fish cleaning stations, amphitheater and several play grounds.
Two 18 hole golf courses are also
located near here.
Cold Lake is a
large deep body of water that has
several beautiful beaches located in
and near the city of
Cold Lake
and another 3 beaches by boat access
only.
Some of these beaches may possibly
be the best in Alberta.
Cold Lake
offers excellent Lake Trout,
Lake Whitefish,
Northern Pike
Walleye
and
Perch
fishing. The record Lake Trout
weighs in at
23.9kilos,
you'll need a
fishing
license to try your luck.
This campground
is perfect for families with young
children, the kids can spend hours
on the beach and nearby playgrounds.
Boaters will find well designed
easy to use boat launches and a
first class Marina located in the
City of
Cold Lake. Campsites
are located in the
Boreal Forest
on Lund's Point, a peninsula jutting into
Cold Lake. The sites are well kept and
offer good privacy. There are
several trails for hiking, biking
and cross country skiing. The
Iron horse
trail which is an
abandoned rail line that runs
260km
from
Waskatenau
to
Cold Lake
ends here. This area is also
excellent for Bird watching as the
Lake attracts numerous species of
birdlife along with unique nesting
areas.
Canadian
Forces Base Cold Lake
that is operated as an air force
base is located close to here. There
is a good chance of seeing a fighter
jet fly over head.
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
