Fickle Lake Campground Alberta Provincial
Recreation Area.
Fickle Lake campground is located approximately
40km
south
east of the Town of
Edson
and
230km west of the City of
Edmonton.
Access to the campground is
12km
of gravel road. There are a total of
41 campsites
for both
tents and larger RV's some of these
are located near the lakeshore. This
campground offers, water, firewood,
picnic tables, dry toilet, hiking, fish
cleaning station, good boat launch,
large public dock, swimming, power boating, fishing, ice fishing, canoeing &
kayaking. Fickle Lake
has good northern Pike and Walleye fishing, you'll need a
fishing
license to try your luck.
The Lake also
attracts a large variety of
Birds Of Prey along with migrating waterfowl and is a great place
for birders. Fickle Lake is
excellent for Canoeing and Kayaking
especially in the early morning and
early evening. Elkoff's Trapper's
Cabin Interpretive trail is located
south east of the lake and well
worth the one hour effort. This area
is prime bear habitat, bear
sightings are common. Boat traffic
can be busy during summer weekends.
Watson Creek
Campground is located
approximately
68km
west of here. Night skies here rank #
4 on
the
Bortle Scale.
This is
bear country, food and food related items must be
stored properly.
