Fish
Lake Campground is located
95km
west of
Rocky Mountain
House on the shore of
Shundra Lake.
An equal distance of
3.7 hours
from both
Calgary
and
Edmonton.
There are 92 campsites with picnic
tables and fire pits. Most of the
campsites are surrounded by Aspen and
Spruce tress that provide good
privacy. Several of the campsites
are located next to the lake some of
these being excellent pull throughs. This campground offers
water,
dry toilets, power,
information kiosk, pay telephone, small store,
boat launch, dock, refuse containers,
fish cleaning stations,
fire wood and community kitchens.
Fish Lake also called Shundra Lake is
excellent for fly fishing, canoeing
and kayaking.
There are also several hiking and
mountain bike trails located here.
The lake is
1.2 km
long with a maximum width of
600m
and crystal clear. Fish Lake
(Shundra Lake) is stocked with
Rainbow Trout. You'll need a
fishing
license
to try out your luck. A nice after
dinner or evening walk can be found
along a well worn interpretive trail
the leads around the entire lake.
This lakeshore trail will take
about 1 hour to complete. There is
an excellent day use area with a
boat launch and a large dock that
you can fish from, take your lawn
chair. Shundra Lake has a
boat motor restriction and is best
for small water craft. The lake is
also home to several
Loons
that can be heard throughout the day
and evening. Night skies here
rank # 2-1 on the
Bortle Scale
and the road
leading to the campground is paved
except for
1.5km
of gravel road at the entrance.
Gold Eye Lake
Campground is located
approximately
6km west
of here.
Crescent Falls
is located approximately
20km west
of here.

located in this area. To mention a

Two
O'clock Ridge Hike,
Windy
Point Ridge,
Allstones Lake

Ridge Hike, Big Whirlpool, Cline and
Coral Canyons are all
located near here. This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
