Garner Lake Campground Alberta Provincial
Park.
The
Garner Lake campground is located on
the south shore of Garner Lake approximately
175km
north east of the City of
Edmonton
and
60km
east of the town of
Bonnyville.
There are 61 well treed sites with
reservations available by calling
1-877-537-2757. This
campground offers campsites for both
tents and larger RV's, clean sandy beach, public
phone, water,
showers, fire wood, picnic tables, electrical
hookups,
swimming areas, hiking trails,
bicycle trails, boat launch,
fish cleaning station and
playgrounds.
Garner Lake
also offers good
northern Pike,
Perch
and
Walleye fishing, you'll need a
fishing
license to try your luck.
This campground
is good for adults and young
children, kids can spend hours
on the beach and nearby playground. Garner Lake
is crystal clear and excellent for
swimming, canoeing or kayaking. You'll find the clean
beach sand
and clear water very enticing.
Boaters will find a well designed
easy to use boat launch and plenty
of parking space. The campsites
are located
in the surrounding
Boreal Forest
and offer good privacy. There is a
nice hiking and bicycle trail with
interpretive signs explaining the
local wildlife and vegetation. Elk, Deer and
Moose frequent the area and it is also excellent
for bird watching, berry picking and
mushroom picking.
Night skies here are
good for star gazing, it ranks # 3-4 on
the
Bortle Scale.
I found Garner Lake to be one of the
nicest Alberta Lake campgrounds.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
