Gleniffer Reservoir Dickson Dam Campground

Provincial Recreation Area.

Dickson Dam Campground is located 24km west of Innisfail. Approximately 2 hours northwest of the city of Calgary and 3 hours southwest of the city of Edmonton. There are 30 campsites with picnic tables and fire pits. All the sites are located on an open grassy area with a few next to the Gleniffer Reservoir. This campground has a hand water pump, dry toilets, fire wood, fish cleaning station and a boat launch. Gleniffer reservoir is excellent for power boating, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and especially wind surfing. The reservoir was created for hydroelectric power and is approximately 7km long with a maximum width of 2km. The Dickson Dam is located on the east end of the lake. The reservoir offers good fishing for northern Pike, Walleye, Whitefish and the odd Brown Trout. Fishing below the Dam on the Red Deer River can be good also. You'll need a fishing license to try out your luck. The grassy area next to the Lake is excellent for astronomers and star gazers. Night skies here rank # 4 on the Bortle Scale and the road leading to the campground is paved. Red Lodge Campground is approximately 25km south of here.
