Icefields Centre RV
Campground Jasper National
Park.
Icefields Centre RV
Campground is located on the Ice
Fields Parkway at the Icefields
Visitor Center west parking lot
107k
south of the
Jasper
townsite
and approximately
111k
north of Lake Louise. This parking
lot has100 sites that are lined out
on the asphalt. Unfortunately the
entire parking lot is not level and
slants towards the highway. This
site is not intended for long stays
but does make for a nice rest stop
or an overnight stay. If your
RV is over
10m,
30feet this site is the only
option if you plan on exploring the
area. There is no water, services,
or firewood here but there are dry
toilets.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly. The
Icefields Visitor Centre RV site has some of the
nicest views you can find in the
Canadian Rockies.
Mount Athabasca, Mount Andromeda,
Snow Dome, Mount Kitchener, Mount
Wilcox,
Wilcox Pass,
Parker Ridge,
Hilda Glacier,
Nigel Pass,
Hilda Ridge,
Boundary Lake,
Weeping Wall, Athabasca
Glacier, Columbia Ice Field and the
Saskatchewan Glacier are all located
near here. This area is absolutely
beautiful and deserves a few days to
explore.
Parker Ridge located just
before the campground is a short
hike with outstanding views of the
Saskatchewan Glacier below. The
ridge behind the Visitors centre leading up
to
Wilcox Pass provides
stunning views of the glaciated
peaks, Mount Athabasca, Mount
Andromeda, Athabasca Glacier and
Snow Dome. Big Horn Sheep and
Mountain Goats can also be seen
throughout the area. If your RV is
under
10meters,
30feet the
Wilcox Creek
Campground is only
2k
east of Here. The tents only
Columbia
Ice Fields campground is only
1k
east of here and is one of the nicest tent
campgrounds found in all the
National Parks. This area would have
to be considered the best of the
Icefields Parkway. Don't forget
your binoculars and hiking gear.
See the official web site
link below for fees, opening and closing
dates.
