Lac
Des Arcs Campground.
Lac Des Arcs campground is located in the
Foothills to the Rocky Mountains in
Bow Valley Provincial Park, Kananaskis country,
50 minutes west of Calgary and
25km
East of
Canmore. There are
28 well treed Campsites. The campground runs
along the South Bank of the Bow
River and Bow Flats Natural Area with nice views to the West
and North
Rocky Mountains. This
campground may fill fast on weekends
due to it's close proximity to the
City of Calgary.
It also makes for an excellent late
start stop over if you're planning
to tour the National Parks. The
campground offers campsites for both
tents and larger RV's,
playground,
water, toilets, telephone,
camp kitchen, and a canoe boat
launch. Dry firewood is
available here for a fee. Rainbow Trout, Brown
Trout and Whitefish can be caught in
the Bow River. You'll need a
fishing
license to try out your luck.
Windsurfers often surf this shallow
lake due to it's windy conditions
that are created by strong winds
funneled through the nearby bow
valley mountain corridor. The Exshaw
concrete plant is located across the
lake on the North Shore. This
campground is located close to the
1A Trans Canada Highway and can be
noisy.
Willow Rock Campground,
Elk Flats
Group Campground,
Bow Valley
Campground,
Bow River Campground and
Three Sisters Campground are all
located near here.
