Medicine Lake Campground Provincial Park Recreational
Area.
Medicine
Lake Campground is located
47km
north of
Rocky Mountain
House on the shore of
Medicine Lake.
Approximately 2.25
hours
from
the city of
Edmonton
and 3.25 hours from the city of
Calgary.
There are 49 campsites with picnic
tables and fire pits. Most of the
campsites are surrounded by Aspen and
Spruce tress that provide good
privacy. Several of the campsites
are located next to the lake close
enough to keep your boat tied up. This campground offers
water,
dry toilets,
boat launch, dock, refuse containers,
fish cleaning stations,
fire wood and community cook shelter.
Medicine Lake is excellent for fishing, canoeing
and kayaking.
The lake is
4km
long with a maximum width of
500m.
Medicine Lake holds northern Pike,
Yellow Perch and White Sucker,
you'll need a
fishing
license
to try out your luck. Medicine Lake has a
boat motor speed restriction of
12km and is better
suited
for smaller water craft. The lake is
also home to several
Loons
that can be heard throughout the day
and evening. There are also a few off road
trails nearby for those with
mountain bikes. Night skies here
rank # 4 on the
Bortle Scale.
The road
leading to the campground is
13km
of gravel.
Buck Lake
campground and
Calhoun Bay
Campground are located
approximately
34km
north of here.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
