Mount Kidd Campground Kananaskis Country.
Mount Kidd campground is located
approximately
115km,
1.25 hours South West of Calgary in
Evan Thomas Provincial Recreation
Area
Kananaskis country. There are
229 large, well treed campsites
that can be reserved, see official
link below. The
campground fills fast on weekends
due to it's close proximity to the
City of Calgary. This
campground offers both summer and
winter camping for both
tents and larger RV's, amphitheatre,
tennis courts, wading pool, small
store, propane sales, pay telephone, showers, water
hookups, power hookups, picnic
tables, fire pits, flush toilets,
water, sani dump, paved bike paths
and interpretive hiking trails. Dry firewood is
available here for a fee.
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly. There
are several trails located in the
area along with a
paved bike path.
Kananaskis
Village,
Kananaskis
Golf Course and
Nakiska Ski
Resort are located a few
minutes North of the Mount Kidd
campground. If you travel another
30km
South you will reach the Peter
Lougheed Provincial Park and the
Upper
and
Lower
Kananaskis Lakes. Friends
of ours stayed here on Halloween one
year and found the local campers
we're trick or treating (handing
out candy to children dressed in
Halloween costumes). I noticed a lot
of large motor home campers that
were enjoying the nearby Golf
Course. If you're a golfer I'm sure
you will enjoy this campground and
it's location.
See the official web site
link below for fees, opening and closing
dates.
