Prairie Creek Campground is located
41km
south of
Rocky Mountain
House next to Prairie
Creek.
Approximately 3.5
hours
from
the city of
Edmonton
and 3 hours from the city of
Calgary.
There are 50 campsites with picnic
tables and fire pits. Most of the
campsites are well surrounded by
Spruce tress that provide good
privacy. A few of the campsites
are located next to Prairie Creek. This campground offers
a hand
water pump,
dry toilets, refuse containers,
fire wood and community cook shelter.
Prairie Creek campground is very
nice and located in a thick Spruce
forest with a small unnamed creek
running through the middle of the
two loops. There are also a few off road
trails nearby for those with
mountain bikes. Prairie Creek
offers good fly fishing for Brown
Trout, Bull Trout and Whitefish, you'll need a
fishing
license
to try out your luck. Night skies here
rank # 4 on the
Bortle Scale.
The road
leading to the campground is paved.
Strachan
Campground is
10km
east of here. Swan Lake
campground is located
approximately
31km
south of here.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
