Lodge Campground Provincial Park.
Red
Lodge Campground is located
21km
west of
Bowden next to
the Little Red Deer River.
Approximately 2.5
hours
from
the city of
Edmonton
and 1.5 hours from the city of
Calgary.
There are 41 campsites with picnic
tables and fire pits. Most of the
campsites are well surrounded by
Spruce tress that provide good
privacy. A few of the campsites
are located next to the Little Red
Deer River. This campground offers
a hand
water pump,
toilets, showers, playground,
telephone, power, sani dump, refuse containers and
fire wood. Red Lodge campground is located in a
protected natural area that was once
owned by an English settler name Mr.
Crichly who had a red colored log
cabin. The trail following the
Little Red Deer River is very nice
with several sitting benches that
are located on the rivers bank. There are
a few off road
trails nearby for those with
mountain bikes. The little Red Deer
River holds Brown
Trout, Brook Trout, Burbot and
Whitefish. You'll need a
fishing
license
to try out your luck. Night skies here
rank # 4 on the
Bortle Scale.
The road
leading to the campground is paved.
Gleniffer Lake
Campground is
approximately
25km
north of here.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
