Sulphur Gates Equestrian Campground

The Sulphur Gates campground is located approximately 20km North West of the Town of Grande Cache and approximately 140km North West of the Town of Hinton. 442km North West of the City of Edmonton. There are a total of 11 sites for both tents and larger RV's, fire wood, picnic tables, water, dry toilets, corals, horse loading ramps and hitching rails. This equestrian campground is located near the Wilmore Wilderness area and is mainly used as a staging area for horses or backcountry hikers. If you're looking for untouched wilderness and absolute isolation you can find it in the Wilmore Wilderness area that is adjacent to Jasper National Park. The Smoky River flows along the campground and offers good fishing for Rainbow Trout, Bull Trout and Rocky Mountain Whitefish, you'll need a fishing license to try your luck. Pierre Grey's Campground is located 60km South of here. Night skies here rank #4 on the Bortle Scale. This is Bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly.
