Wabasso
Campground Jasper National
Park.
The
Wabasso
Campground is located in the Rocky
Mountains on the Icefields Parkway
17km
South of Jasper. There are
228 unserviced sites with picnic tables and fire
pits, fire wood is available when
purchasing a fire permit. The
campground consists of 4 loops
including a walk in tent section
with
water stations,
flush toilets, showers, sheltered camp kitchens
with wood burning cook stoves,
playground, garbage containers, recycling
bins and a sani dump.
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly. Some of
the sites back onto the North
Saskatchewan river with open views
towards the valley. The forest here
seems stressed or old with no new
growth or saplings following behind.
The pine beetle has also started to
take it's toll on the local pine
trees here. The campsites are all
open to each other with little
privacy. Beautiful
Mount Edith
Cavell is located near
here and offers several nice hikes.
Wabasso campground makes a good base
camp if you want to spend a few days
exploring
Jasper
and the local area.
See the official web site
link below for fees, opening and closing
dates.
