Watson Creek Campground
Alberta Provincial Recreation Area.
Watson Creek campground is located approximately
70km
south
east of the Town of
Hinton
and
340km west of the City of
Edmonton.
Access to the campground is
38km
of gravel road. There are a total of
38 campsites
for both
tents and larger RV's.
Most of the campsites are well
surrounded by Spruce tress that
provide good privacy. A few of the
campsites are located next to the
Mcleod River.
This
campground offers, water, firewood,
picnic tables and dry toilets. Watson Creek
has good Rainbow Trout Bull Trout
and Brook Trout fishing, you'll need a
fishing
license to try your luck.
Watson Creek Campground has a remote
feel to it as not many venture this
far over gravel roads. This
campground makes for an excellent
base camp if you want to explore the
Cadomin area.
Cadomin
Mines and ghost town is an
interesting place to visit. It's
located only 10 minutes west of
here. The ghost town has a general
store containing old historical
information. Several of the the old
miners houses are still standing. If
you like to look at large modern
mining equipment you'll find lots of
that here.
Cadomin Cave
is also located nearby. I did see
fish jumping in the ponds near the
entrance to the Town of
Cadomin.
Fickle Lake
Campground is located
approximately
68km
east of here. Night skies here rank #
2 on
the
Bortle Scale.
This is
bear country, food and food related items must be
stored properly.
See the official web site
link below for fees, opening and closing
dates.
