the west shore of Whitney Lakes approximately
275km

Edmonton
and
120km

the Town of
Vermilion .Ross
Lake Campground has 149 sites with reservations

northern Pike,

Perch
fishing, you'll need a

This campground
is excellent for families with young
children, the kids can spend hours
on the clean beach and nearby playgrounds.
Ross Lake is crystal clear and great
for swimming. Boaters will find well designed
easy to use boat launches.
The campsite is located at Ross Lake
in the surrounding
Boreal Forest.
Whitney Lake day use area and Ross
Lake Campground are well maintained.
Ross Lake may be considered one of
the nicest beach/lake Campgrounds
located in Alberta and well worth
the visit. There are over
30km
of hiking trails that wind there way
through the Provincial Park with
several excellent viewing areas. You
can hike to all the lakes located in
the Park.
Iron horse
trail which is an
abandoned rail line that runs
260km
from
Waskatenau
to
Cold Lake
is also located near here. Whitney
Lakes Provincial Park is good for
Wildlife and Bird watching, Deer,
Moose and Beaver are here in large
numbers. The pine trees located in
the area are very unusual, they look
weather beaten with extensive growth
at their tops. I've never seen
tree's like this anywhere else in
Alberta. There may be some confusion
as to Whitney Lake Campground. I
could only find a day use area at
Whitney Lake. The main campground is
Ross Lake which is
located in Whitney Lakes Provincial
Park.
Night skies here are
good for star gazing, it ranks # 1-2 on
the
Bortle Scale.
This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
See the official web site
link below for fees, opening and closing
