Zeiner Campground Pigeon Lake Provincial
Park.
The
Zeiner Campground is located in Pigeon Lake
Provincial Park west shore of Pigeon Lake approximately
105km
south west of the City of
Edmonton. There are
a total of 1116 sites with reservations
available by calling 1-877-537-2757. This
campground offers campsites for both
tents and larger RV's, group
camping, handicap spots, clean sandy beach,
play grounds, picnic shelters, public
phone, concession, showers, water,
fire wood, picnic tables, sani dump,
swimming areas, boat launch and
fish cleaning stations.
A golf course, shopping centre and
farmers market
are also located nearby. Pigeon Lake
itself offers
Pike,
Whitefish and
Walleye
fishing, you'll need a
fishing
license to try your luck
or to enter the yearly fishing derby.
This campground
is good for families with young
children, the kids can spend hours
on the beach and nearby playground.
Boaters will find a well designed
easy to use boat launch.
The camp sites are a mix of both
open and well treed sites
located
in the surrounding
Boreal Forest.
Zeiner Campground is well
maintained but often very crowded. Due to it's
close proximity to
Edmonton
and
Leduc
it fills fast on weekends and is one
of the most heavily used
recreational lakes in Alberta.
Pigeon Lake is part of the Battle
River drainage basin and has an
approximate total surface area of
96.7sqkm with an
average depth of
6.2m,
maximum depth of
9.1m.
Pigeon Lake Provincial Park also
attracts a large variety of
migrating waterfowl and is a great
place for birders. Night skies here
rank # 5 on
the
Bortle Scale. Pigeon
Lake campground is
located a few kilometers south of
here. This is
bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly.
