Boulton Creek Campground Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Kananaskis Country.

Boulton Creek campground is located approximately 150km south west of the city of Calgary in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Kananaskis country. There are 118 large, well treed campsites that can be reserved by calling 1-877-537-2757. The campground fills fast on weekends due to it's close proximity to the City of Calgary. This campground offers campsites for both tents and larger RV's, amphitheatre, pay telephone, showers, water hookups, power hookups, picnic tables, fire pits, flush toilets, water, sani dump, paved bike paths and interpretive hiking trails. Dry firewood is available here for a fee. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly. There are several trails located within the campground along with an extensive scenic paved bike path system. You can ride a bike around this entire area. There is a lot to explore here. The Upper and Lower Kananaskis lakes are located nearby. Both lakes have very nice picnic areas with picnic tables located close to the lake shore. The Upper Kananaskis Lake has a well groomed hiking trail around the entire lake that offers beautiful views of Mount Lyautey, Mount Sarrail, Mount Foch and Mount Fox. Trailheads to Rawson Lake, Hidden Lake, Fossil Falls, Astor Lake and Three Isle Lake are located at the Upper Lake. Both the Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lakes have excellent boat launches for both power boats and small water craft such as canoes. Canoeing the Upper Kananaskis Lake on a calm summers evening would be an unforgettable experience. There are Rainbow Trout, Cutthroat Trout and Bull Trout in both the lakes. You'll need a fishing license to try out your luck. William Watson Lodge is located within walking distance of the Boulton Creek campground. The lodge was created to provide equal access to this beautiful area for people of all abilities and provides 1st class accommodations for seniors and those with disabilities. I tip my hat to Jean Lougheed who thought of creating this Lodge and her husband Peter Lougheed who made it happen. Canyon Creek campground, Elkwood campground, Lower Lake Campground Interlake's campground, Mount Sarrail campground, Lower Lake campground and Point Back Country Campground are all located near here.
