Lake Louise Campground Banff National
Park.
The
Lake Louise Tent and RV
Campground is located in the Rocky
Mountains at the South end of the
Town of Lake Louise on the Bow
Valley Parkway. There are two
separate campgrounds open all year
round, one is for RV's (189 sites),
the other is Tents only (206
sites). The RV sites have
electricity, fire pits and picnic
tables. Fire wood is available when
purchasing a fire permit. Also available are, hot
showers, flush toilets, disability
access, sani dumps and interpretive
programs. The Tents only campground
offers fire pits, flush toilets, hot
showers, disability access and
interpretive programs. It also has an electrified
entry gate and is completely
surrounded by an ominous looking
electric fence,
to keep Bears out.
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly. Both campgrounds are
bordering the Bow river with hiking
trails along it's bank. In the
Town of
Lake Louise you can find gas, diesel fuel,
groceries and restaurants. Lake Louise
itself is only 4km, 2.5 miles away
and worth the visit
(map).
You'll see outstanding views of the
Victoria Glacier and Lake Louise.
Morraine Lake is also nearby, some
of the best hikes in the Rocky
Mountains are found here, Valley of
the 10 Peaks, Larch Valley, Sentinel
Pass, Eiffel Lake, Wenkchemma Pass,
Paradise Valley, Consolation Lake. A
difficult scramble to the
summit of Mount Temple starts at
Morraine Lake, beware, Mount Temple
is a major peak (3543
meters). Mountaineering experience is a
must, several people have lost their
lives on Mount Temple. Allow 12 hours for a
round trip.
