Mosquito Creek Campground Banff National
Park.
The
Mosquito Creek
Campground is located in the Rocky
Mountains on the Icefields Parkway
24km North of Lake Louise .There are
32 unserviced sites open all year
round with picnic tables and fire
pits, fire wood is available when
purchasing a fire permit. National
Park campgrounds tend to fill
quickly and are usually full for the
night by early afternoon. The
campground offers a nice mix of
sites for both tents and RV's. This
campground also has potable water,
dry toilets and a sheltered camp
kitchen with a wood burning cook
stove.
This is
Bear country,
food and food related items must be
stored properly. Mosquito
Creek runs crystal clear and borders
the South side of the campground.
This campground is a great base camp
for hiking, scrambling, climbing,
biking, cross country skiing, snow
showing and ice climbing. The
Mosquito Creek hostel is also
located here on the South side of
Mosquito Creek. Alpine climbers
often stay here for climbs up Hector
Mountain and the Hector Glacier
found on the East side of the
highway. Beautiful Hector Lake is
located nearby, the trail head can
be found on the side of the highway
just South of here. Hector Lake
lies below the South end of the
Crowfoot Glacier and rarely see's
visitors. It is fed by the Wapta and
Waputik Icefields. The Lake also
holds huge Lake Trout, a National
Park
fishing
license is required.
