Forget-Me-Not Ridge Hike Alberta Kananaskis Country.

Forget Me Not Ridge is located 40 minutes West of the City of Calgary across the Elbow River near Little Elbow Campground. Elevation gain to the summit is approximately 700 Meters. Allow 3.5 hours for a return trip. The trail head is located at the Little Elbow Campground Harold Chapman bridge. You can park at Forget Me Not Pond then hike upstream to the bridge. After crossing the Harold Chapman bridge turn left on the heavily used equestrian trail. When the trail starts to turn South East towards the Big Elbow loop stay left again trying to follow the Elbow River downstream. The equestrian trail does cross the Elbow River so plan on getting your feet wet at this point. After crossing the Elbow River follow the trail about 1/2km until you see a cairn and trail leading off to the right. This is the start of the climb to wards the summit of Forget Me Not Ridge. Work your way up onto the first ridge then continue on to the second ridge. The top of Forget Me Not Ridge is a large U shape that follows on top of what look like two mountains. There is a large cairn at both ends of the ridge. Views of Moose Mountain, Moose Mountain Ice Cave, Nihahi Ridge, Prairie Mountain, Powder Face Ridge, Mount Glasgow, Mount Cornwall, Outlaw Peak, Banded Peak and Mount Romulus are stunning. The summit also offers a classic transitional view of prairies to mountains with the city of Calgary visible on the Eastern horizon. Looking down you can view both the Elbow and Little Elbow River valleys. Goose Berry campground, Little Elbow, Beaver Flat campground, Paddy's Flat campground, Powder Face Trail, Elbow Loop, Forget Me Not Ridge and Forget Me Not Pond day use picnic area are located just West and East of here.
