Indian Oils Sheep River. Alberta Sheep River Provincial Park.

Indian Oils day use area and hike is located on the Sheep River approximately 30km West of the town of Turner Valley and centered between the Blue Rock Campground and Sandy McNabb campground. The trail winds along the West side of the Sheep River gorge with excellent views of the foothills and Rocky Mountains. Views of the river pools and eddies along the Sheep River are beautiful and very inviting. To bad the water is to cold for swimming. The Sheep River runs crystal clear and is home to wild Cutthroat Trout, Bull Trout and Rainbow Trout. You'll need a fishing license to try your luck, see regulations for catch and release. Deer, Elk, Bear and Bighorn Sheep are all around this area. Sheep River Falls is located just West of here and worth the hike or short drive. More local hikes Here. You are in Bear country.
