Cirque and Chephren Lakes Hike In Banff National Park.

The trail head for the hike to Cirque and Chephren Lakes is located at the South West end of the Waterfowl Lakes campground. Both Cirque Lake and Chephren Lake are easy hikes that climb through a spruce forest. Cirque Lake at a 150 meters has more elevation gain then Chephren Lake at an elevation of 80 meters. They are both approximately 4km one way, allow 2.5 hours return trip for either one. Cirque Lake is located against the peaks of the Great Divide, Mount Midway, Mount Stairway and Mount Aries. There is a small Glacier at the South end of the lake on Mount Midway. The trail to Chephren Lake offers outstanding views of Howes Peak and Mount Chephren but the trail winds through a lot of muddy, boggy areas, you'll appreciate how good hiking boots keep your feet dry here. Both these alpine lakes are worth the effort for the beauty that abounds here.

You are in Bear country.
