Location/Description
Location: 189kms southwest of Edmonton, 68kms west of Grand Prairie Alberta.
Description: Brazeau Reservoir campground has a total of 69 campsites nicely suited for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include water hand pump, dry toilets, refuse containers, fire wood, good boat launch, fish cleaning stations and a sandy beach area. Firewood is available for sale. Campsites are a nice mix of open grass and well treed with aspen and spruce that provide good privacy.
There are several nice sites located near the lake. Brazeau Reservoir is excellent for power boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. Be careful with a power boat, several shallow spots and floating debris can be a real hazard. The man made reservoir is for hydroelectricity and is approximately 13kms long with the dam on it’s northeast end.
Bird watching can be very good as the reservoir attracts several different bird species. Fisherman may catch Trout, Char, Grayling and Whitefish. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. Night skies here rank #2 on the Bortle Scale. See the official web site link below for fees, opening and closing dates. You are in bear country. Food and food related items must be stored properly.
