Location:  14kms northwest of Rocky Mountain House Alberta. Equal 2.5 hour distance from both Calgary and Edmonton.

Description: Crimson Lake campground contains 172 campsites. Most of the sites are surrounded by mature Aspen and Spruce trees providing some privacy. Amenities include water, toilets, showers, power, sani dump, information kiosk, wheelchair accessible camp sites, small store, amphitheater’s, playground, volleyball, boat launch, beach with a designated swimming area, refuse containers, fish cleaning stations, community kitchens and fire wood available for sale.

Crimson Lake is excellent for power boating, water skiing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing. There are also several hiking and mountain bike trails located here. The lake is 1.9 kms long with a maximum width of 1.7kms, maximum depth is 9.1ms. Several private cottages are located on the southwest shore of the lake. Expect the lake and boat traffic to be busy during summer months. Fishing at Crimson Lake can be poor.

If you prefer to go fishing on a quieter more peaceful lake you can drive to nearby Twin Lakes, you’ll need a fishing license to try out your luck. Children will love it here, they can swim, play on the beach or playground then visit the small store for ice cream. The nearby town of Rocky Mountain House has all the amenities one would need and there is an interesting museum located there. Night skies here rank #4 on the Bortle ScaleThis is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly.
