Location/Description
Location: 42kms west of Calgary. 9.5kms west of Bragg Creek. Kananaskis Country.
Description: Gooseberry campground contains 83 campsites suited for both RV’s and tents. 10 of these are walk-in tents only, located near the Elbow River. The campground fills fast on weekends due to it’s close proximity to the City of Calgary. Reservations are necessary.
Amenities include playground, dry toilets, water, picnic tables and fire pits. Dry firewood is available here for a fee. The nearby Elbow River runs crystal clear and popular with canoeist and kayakers. Elbow River is also the City of Calgary’s water supply. Hikers can spend several days exploring this area. Elbow Falls and Forgetmenot Pond day use picnic areas are all located near here. Forgetmenot pond is stocked with Rainbow Trout. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck.
