Location/Description

Location: West side of the Bow Valley Parkway across from Johnston Canyon 24kms north of Banff and 36kms south of Lake Louise. Banff National Park. Access by Castle Junction.

 

Description: Johnston Canyon Campground contains 132 well treed sites for both RV’s and tents with a few choice sites located next to Johnston Creek. Amenities include, amphitheater, handicap sites, water, showers, flush toilets, picnic tables, recycling bins, camp kitchen and sani dump. Fire pits are located at each campsite, fire wood is available with the purchase of a fire permit.

Nearby Castle Junction has a small store, gas bar and restaurant. Beautiful Johnston Canyon is located across the parkway and is well worth the hike up to both the waterfalls and Ink Pots. Shuttle bus access only. Expect hoards of people here during the summer months. Johnston Canyon is possibly the most crowded trail in the National Parks. The Bow River is also located a short walking distance west of the campground. Highway and train noise can be heard within the campground.
