Location/Description

Location: South shore of Gull Lake in Aspen Beach Provincial Park approximately 32kms northwest of Red Deer Alberta.

 

Description: Lakeview campground contains 255 campsites for both RV’s and tents however better suited for larger RV’s. Amenities include group camping, handicap spots, large sandy beach, swimming, wind surfing, sailing, boating, water skiing, play grounds, picnic shelters, public phone, concession, showers, water, fire wood, picnic tables, sani dump, boat launch, boat dock, fish cleaning stations, ice fishing, hiking, bird watching and off site snowmobiling. Fire wood is available for sale.

Gull Lake is excellent for swimming. Kids will love the warm shallow water at Aspen Beach. It’s also good for boating, water skiing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Boaters will find a well designed boat launch and dock. Gull lake offers good northern Pike and Walleye fishing, you’ll need a fishing license to try your luck. Several of the campsites are well treed and located in the surrounding Boreal Forest. Others are located on open well kept grass with a few choice sites backing onto Gull Lake.

Gull Lake is part of the Red Deer River Basin with an approximate total surface area of 80.6sqkms and an average depth of 5.4ms, maximum depth of 8ms. Aspen Beach Provincial Park also attracts a large variety of migrating waterfowl making it a great place for birders. There is a well constructed walkway leading through a nearby marsh complete with telescopes that are mounted on observing platforms.

Aspen Beach Provincial Park is one of the most heavily used recreational lakes in Alberta. A golf course and farmers market are also located nearby. Due to it’s close proximity to Red Deer, Calgary and Edmonton it fills fast on weekends. Night skies here rank #5 on the Bortle Scale.

Nicely kept campsites. Beach and local marshes are very nice.
