Location/Description

Location: South shore of Miquelon Lake 65kms southeast of Edmonton Alberta.

Description: Miquelon Lake campground contains 276 campsites nicely suited for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include nice group camping, handicap spots, clean sandy beach, picnic shelters, picnic tables, public phone, showers, water, fire wood, sani dump, swimming areas, play grounds, hand boat launch small water craft. Firewood is available for sale.

There are both open camp sites on well kept grass and nicely treed sites that offer some privacy. Miquelon Lake campground is well maintained with several hiking trails that wind through Aspen Parkland and Boreal Forest along with several marshes that provide a summer home to over 200 bird species including breeding grounds for two gull species.

This park is a bird watchers paradise and a designated as bird sanctuary. Excellent view points with floating docks can be found on a Marsh next to the campground. Miquelon Lake is to shallow for motor boats so no annoying boat noise. A private golf course is also located nearby.

I did see a small fish jump however I was told game fish are no longer present in the lake. Depending on water levels the lake may be good for swimming, high salinity keeps the water clear and keeps algae down however expect swimmers itch . This campground is excellent for families with young children. Kids can spend hours on the beach and nearby playgrounds.

Night skies here rank #5 on the Bortle Scale.
