Location/Description

Location: East side of the Bow Valley Parkway 48kms north of Banff and 17kms south of Lake Louise. Banff National Park.

 

Description: Quick access to the parkway when heading north can be found at the Castle Mountain Junction located on the Trans Canada Highway.

This campground is better suited for tents and small RV’s. Total number of campsites is 83, all located in a grassy wooded area. Amenities include flush toilets, piped cold water, sheltered communal kitchens with wood burning cook stoves. Fire pits are located in each campsite. Fire wood is available with the purchase of a fire permit.

There is a small store, gas bar and restaurant located at the Castle Mountain junction 13kms south of the Campground. Nearby Lake Louise also offers gas, groceries, restaurants and world class hotels.

Protection Mountain campground spots are available on a first come first serve basis only. National Park campgrounds tend to fill quickly and are usually full for the night by early afternoon.
