Location/Description
Location: Next to Swan Lake #43 highway. 54kms south of Rocky Mountain House. 72kms east of Grand Prairie Alberta.
Description: Swan Lake campground contains 24 campsites nicely suited for both RV’s and tents. Amenities include water, fire pits, dry toilets, picnic tables, refuse containers and community kitchen. Firewood available for sale.
Most of the campsites are surrounded by pine and spruce tress that provide good privacy with a few choice sites located next to the lake that are close enough to keep your boat tied up. Swan Lake is excellent for fly fishing, canoeing, float tubes and kayaking.
The lake is 2.1kms long with a maximum width of 700ms and aerated during freeze over to insure a healthy fish population. Fisherman will appreciate good Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and northern Pike fishing. You’ll need a fishing license to try your luck.
The lake has an electric motors only restriction to help protect it’s natural habitat and best suited for smaller water craft and belly boats. Swan Lake was named after a group of swans that were seen here in 1952. There are also several off road trails nearby.
Night skies here rank #2 on the Bortle Scale. This is bear country, food and food related items must be stored properly.
