Description

Trailhead: Park at the Windy Point parking lot located next to the David Thompson #11 highway and Abraham Lake, just east of David Thompson Resort .186kms west of Rocky Mountain House.

Description: This is a difficult scramble involving 3 short rock ledges. Cross the highway and pick up the trail located at the bottom of the road side pull out. Continue up a grassy trail overlooking the highway then turn right and start ascending steep slabs of rock and scree.

You may pass a few native vision quest sites. At around 522m you’ll reach the first of three rock steps. This is where the scrambling begins. Plan on bringing a pair of gloves, rillenkarren embedded in the limestone is razor sharp. Work your way up the first step onto to level ground. Continue on to the second and third step before reaching the cairned lookout. Keep your eye out for Big Horn Sheep below. You are in bear country
